Our Founder
Mike Size founded Portside in 2009. Mike developed his financial analysis skills working for commercial finance companies including two Fortune 50 companies -- GE Capital and Wells Fargo Bank. He studied businesses with large, complex corporate structures while financing multi-million-dollar projects on the West Coast. As a Montana banker, Mike worked with local finance entities specializing in small businesses. This diverse background gives Mike unique insights when working with companies of any size.
In addition to more than 25 years of experience in the financial sector, Mike has completed more than 2,000 business valuations nationally. He earned his MBA in 2002 and became a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) by the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts (NACVA) in 2009. In 2016, he completed the rigorous credential of Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) designation from the American Society of Appraisers. This is considered the highest credential in business valuation.
Since 2018, Mike has been an adjunct professor at the University of Montana, College of Business, teaching primarily upper division finance courses.

Mike pictured with Dr. Shannon Pratt in 2016 at the Multnomah Club in Portland, Oregon. Dr. Pratt is considered to have contributed more to the field of business valuation than any other individual. Dr. Pratt founded Business Valuation Resources, Pratt's Stats and was the author of many books and papers on business valuation.
